JANUARY - Escape the blues with a brain dump

Don't panic if entering into the new year doesn't always take the path you want

Losing a grandparent, father-in-law, GP, musician and all-round incredible man was not how we were supposed to enter into January. You can never predict how you are going to feel when a loved one passes or how you should relay the devastating news to your children. There is no right or wrong way to tell them, it's just going with what feels right at that moment. Our way was to go through all the old photos and reminisce over happy times. The wonderful thing we noticed about every picture of Pompa is that he is always laughing. He was interested and interesting. An inspiration to us all.

Working on whiteballoon funeral hub for the last 4 years has been a very cathartic process a topic 4 years ago, I would have avoided at any cost. The website has been and is, amazing in many ways, not only in teaching me that talking about a tough topic somehow makes it less daunting and prepares you for the inevitable, but also discovering all the incredible companies, resources and charities that are available. I can't say how important it is to discuss, write down and share your wishes. Working with my wonderful sisters and best friends has also been a great pleasure and taught me many lessons for which I will be forever grateful.

Maybe we just put too much pressure on January and actual this should be a month of reflection. Time to take stock of the path we want to carve out. A path of laughter, family, friendship and creating memories through adventures..... and finally escaping from Covid.
